Pyredoodle

Breed Information, Personality & Facts

Pyredoodles are a cross between Great Pyrenees and Standard Poodle breeds. The designer dog is top-rated for its composed demeanor and fearlessness. Besides, these easy-to-groom dogs make for a perfect choice for first-time owners.

Size
The average Pyredoodle size is about 15-32 inches.

Weight
An average Pyredoodle weighs about 85-100 pounds.

History
There’s no record of the exact origin of the Pyredoodle. With the current availability of Goldendoodles and Labradoodles, the breeders felt the need for a non-shedding and hypoallergenic variety. That’s when the intentional mix of Great Pyrenees and Poodles came into existence.

Appearance
Generally, Pyredoodles will be white or cream in color. However, the shade depends on the dominant parental breed. The pups derive their overall look from the predominant genes.

Moreover, some pups will carry a short and dense coat, while others can have thick fur.

Living Needs & Health Care
Pyredoodles are large dog breeds. They require adequate living space as well as regular exercise.

Their grooming needs depend on the coat’s thickness. If your pup has a long and furry appearance, you will have to brush the hair daily. At the same time, if the puppy has a single-coated layer, you don’t have to worry much about shedding and matting.

The maintenance requirements of your pup range from daily to weekly for different body parts. Regular tooth brushing and nail clipping are mandatory with these enormous canines.

Exercise & Training
The Pyredoodle is an active dog that requires interaction and company. You must include consistent physical activities in your pup’s daily routine. On top of it, the canine will face no problem accompanying you on long hikes and morning jogs.

It’s essential to pay special attention to your pup’s training. Due to its genetics, your dog can develop obesity if left without a proper schedule.

Since most hybrids are energetic, they will demand physical and mental stimulation. During its training, you can utilize some chewable toys to develop an outlet for venting when they’re bored. Additionally, proper training during the early days can help your dog develop obedience and discipline.

Nutrition/Food/Diet
This large and highly-energetic breed requires proper nutrition and diet during all the stages of its growth. At the same time, they are likely to gain weight if you’re not careful with their food portions.

It would be best to curate a regulated diet plan for their daily intake. You must also limit the amount of other food and treats. Don’t forget to keep the protein content high in the total consumption to keep them fit and energetic.

Since your dog carries the likelihood of gas and stomach-related issues, you must maintain a regular vet checkup schedule.

Temperament
With the traits of Great Pyrenees and Poodles, these dogs are usually adorable and loyal. The breeds are intelligent and easygoing. Moreover, they turn out to be fantastic furry companions with proper training.

Pyredoodles are shy as well as calm. These dogs will get along well with all the members in your house. To help them socialize the best with other dogs, you must include interactive activities in their training sessions.
